EL PORTET often referred to as the ‘Jewel in Moraira’s Crown’ lies between Moraira’s marina and the Cap d’Or headland. Apart from housing a good number of Moraira’s most expensive and most desirable properties, El Portet has its own fine small beach, set within a small cove which provides a popular, sheltered anchorage for local and visiting yachts.

Located within an easy stroll of Moraira, the walk is punctuated with several park-style viewing points, with a fabulous panorama stretching from El Portet, the marina and Calpe’s emblematic Ifach Rock, to Benidorm & the Sierra Bernia mountains. Approaching the village, one passes a small supermarket, pharmacy and restaurant, and several small car parks. The road has a number of small roads leading up to the local properties of El Portet, and finally terminates at the small newly renovated, palm-lined promenade (paseo)  and sandy beach, together with several fine cafes/restaurants, including the renowned ‘La Dauphin’ and the Restaurant El Portet which serves fine Paella.

The blue flag beach is 330m long, and the beach shelves very gently, the sea is very warm here and is ideal for children, and there is also disabled access, toilets, showers and a lifeguard on duty during the season.  The sea here is part of the Montgo Underwater Reserve which stretches from Montgo, at the north of Javea, Calpe, being designated as an area of outstanding beauty, being one of only two within the Mediterranean, and one of just seven such sites throughout the world. Needless to say the area is very popular with scuba divers, there being several schools in both Moraira & Javea.
